About us
Established in February 2021, the Association for Victims of Sexual Crimes has as its mission to contribute to the awareness of the need to react to sexual violence in Romanian society and to ensure that the state effectively prevents and penalizes sexual violence, protects and supports the healing of trauma and the social recovery of victims.
In partnership with the Public Ministry, with the support of the Zi de Bine Association, we set up the first 7 spaces dedicated to hearing children in the prosecutor's offices next to the courts of Constanța, Vâlcea, Vrancea, Sibiu, Mureș, Argeș, Bacău, plus an integrated center for the investigation of sexual violence against children at Săftica, Ilfov.
At the Prosecutor's Office next to the Bucharest Court, the partners Hidroelectrica and Fundația Comunitara București provided funding for the setting up of the most efficient hearing space for children, while UNICEF Romania supported the running of a training program for prosecutors specialized in forensic interviewing, as well as setting up of the first training room in a prosecutor's office in Romania in continuation of the mission to perform in protecting child victims of sexual violence. The number of cases sent to court tripled after the first year of specialized training and the appointment of the first team of investigators dedicated to crimes against sexual freedom and integrity with child victims.
The vision of the Association for Victims of Sex Crimes focuses on building a robust ecosystem of professionals equipped to use scientific tools and methodologies to investigate and combat sexual violence and exploitation, which affects both children and adults. At the heart of our work is our unwavering commitment to protect victims and uphold their rights.
